Funniest Commercial!

This is one of the funniest commercials I have ever laid eyes on. Although some said it is racist, I must say it is not. They are just using Indian custom which is intended for Indian audiences and  they have done a splendid job through comedy!

Enjoy!

Do Bruneians prefer exercising outdoors or indoors?

I have just tweeted  “Do you prefer exercising indoors or outdoors?”

In retrospect, exercising indoors is like going to the gym or just working out in the vicinity of your house.  While exercising outdoors is exercising that includes more contact with nature.

The ‘survey’ (although limited to only a handful of perspectives) showed that many preferred exercising indoors with many reasons entailing it such as not being comfortable jogging in public areas. Other professed that they preferred indoors as the like lifting weights (usually located indoors) and some expressed that their favourite sports usually were played indoors (such as badminton). Many also loves to indulge in spinning classes and aerobics which usually would be indoors. ‘Dancing’ a now more sweat induced hobby were also one of the reason why people preferred exercising indoors.

On the other hand, those who preferred exercising outdoors indicated their reasons, such as hiking which most certainly includes nature. Some preferred outdoors as they like playing football or going swimming and not to be forgotten golf enthusiasts. Some just like jogging outdoors in places like Tasek Lama or around the Stadium.

According to research, exercising outdoors is more preferable as there is better visual simulation. This makes exercising far more exciting in a way. It also makes us feel more alive and also reduces stress.

In a personal view, being a tasek runner / enthusiast I prefer exercising outdoors rather than indoors like in gymnasiums. This is due to it being free and also environmentally friendly, it also is a great place to meet and make friends (although if you say hello to locals they tend to ignore you). I just prefer an open air, a natural knitted area rather than a stuffy old gymnasium (no pun intended to local gyms)

Things i still don’t get..

Stereotypes. The simplest term i could put this mind provoking thought into.

In Brunei, amidst the diversities of cultures and different backgrounds; why oh why do we still judge people by their appearances?

Yes, i have stated jokes about shufflers, poklens etc but it was just for the sake of having fun. To some, it might show that i have bad will against these groups of people, but i do not. I respect everything created by God.

Things need to change, why judge a book by its cover when you don’t even have the faintest idea on what the book contains? The idea on how these shufflers or poklens are some sort of nuisance are preposterous, what have they done to you that makes them unwanted? Some would say, they are weird by having madeup names, different kinds of attires, different set of beliefs. But i say let them be, the funny thing is these people who criticizes  with their closeminded views should really look at themselves in the mirror. If their interest are to dress up in thatkindofaway let them, for they themselves are aware of how their appearences are, as long as they are comfortable with it, i’m down with that.

On the other hand, there are issues on this as well. Wearing skimpy attires, hanging out till dawn, ikut-ikut kawan etc. This responsibility should be held by their parents, try teaching your children at a young age, know who their friends are and get to know them and also not to be too strict on them as they will just try rebel thus teenagers having the trait of knowing how to sneak out or what we call jadi ninja.

I am but a humanbeing, and this is what i think, be more accepting for this is the 21st century. In order to evolve, things needs to change.

Hello world!

Weltpolitik- Wilhelm’s foreign policy of dominating Europe, gaining colonies, economic imperialism while challenging Britain & France for Germany.

Learning about Germany in a 100 year period, has given me vast insights on what to expect. Considering how boring my history teacher is, I find the topic interesting as my curiosity seeds begins to grow.

This contrasted a lot if it were to be compared to Brunei’s history where we learnt till form 3. Rich in history Brunei I would say is ‘one of a kind’ only to be compared to that of the same calibre like China and Japan which both had/still a great monarchy.

I have never regretted being brought up in Brunei, being proud of having such diversity in it’s history. It is truly a land if unexpected treasures.
